HAVE A GOOD TIME
(©2010, Dudley-Brian Smith, BMI)
The rains come down on a windy day;
A sky full of clouds all shifting and grey.
But we're here inside; we're dozing away
For the moment we're safe with no reason to change.
I've learned a few things in my traveling around:
Don't search for trouble or it will be found;
Don't run for cover on a bright sunny day;
And always be thankful, lest the good times fade.
Get carried away and have a good time
Nighttime is coming but today is so fine
Get carried away by possibilities
Look for the best in all that you see
And have a good time.
There's a song in my head that rings in my ear
I woke up this morning feeling like a brand new year
Lets you and me dream of a bright sunny day
And when we awake this grey day will fade.
Get carried away and have a good time...
UNTIL I FIND YOU
(©2010, Jan & Dudley-Brian Smith, BMI)
I get no satisfaction. I can’t find any peace
A whisper so strong wakes me from my sleep
Leave no stone unturned; Leave no door untried
Until I find what's missing contentment is denied
But I won’t turn away; no, I will not turn away.
I have nowhere to stay until I find you.
Can’t waste another minute, as the hours keep spinning by.
If the time is now, will I read the signs?
My life is a reaction to the hope that you are there
I spend my time in wondering when and where
But I won’t turn away; no, I will not turn away.
I have nowhere to stay until I find you.
I’m a wanderer searching for the truth
Without you there’s no reason or proof
And the bitterness seeps through
Until I find you.
I search through the past to find the missing clues
I'd journey 'round the globe to find my way to you
But I won’t turn away; no, I will not turn away.
I have nowhere to stay until I find you.
IN EVERY NEW DAY
(©2007, Dudley-Brian Smith, BMI)
Awake in uncertain light – curtains mask the daystream
Mute the alarm – choke the strike – leave a few more dreams
Stumble through the half-light… reaching for the door
Seeking out this new day… and all that waits before…
There is mystery in every new day
Timeless wonder in every new day
Though the universe ignores us – we can’t remain still
For just beyond the window is a garden of boundless thrill
The dew reflects the promise… of a day of endless shine
Filled with more than idle wonder…and blessings most sublime
There is mystery in every new day…
This earth is pleading to be cared for
The air is bursting and alive
No matter how we try to numb the joy
We’re bound to wonder why
Why? Why?
The incandescent process – of living day to day
Is more than we account for – we’re living in the sway
Of the universe expanding… the ebb and flow of time
Filled with constant wonder… slowly dot connecting lines
There is mystery in every new day …
APRIL FOOL
(©2010, Jan Smith, BMI)
April Fool that’s what I am since I met you
April Fool and I don’t mind- cause I loved you
On a clear April day, you lay so cool beside me
With your eyes as blue as the sky
In April…Fool am I
Time stood still, or did it fly- we watched the sunrise
And I believed I was immortal in your blue eyes
But I guess it was just a magic moment
The kind that comes and goes
Like the breeze...In April
Broken Hearts they never mend, they just keep on hoping
Shattered Dreams: their scattered ends leave you nothing.
When the moon rides the breeze
Through the maze of my dreams -
I see you / In April...
In the cool of the breeze
Feel your arms in my dreams
In April... Fool am I
In April...Fool am I
SNOW CHILD

Snowchild vanished in the morning sun.
Too soon! the mother cried.
Come back, O Lovely One!
JUST A LULLABY
(©1984, Dudley-Brian Smith, BMI)
After making love in the afternoon, softly, we laugh.
As the warmth swirls ‘round and the sun goes down
We sing and we laugh.
Just a lullaby, close your eyes
Just a lullaby and a dream of love
Hear the lullaby
It’s a precious kiss knowing all that we’ve missed is only a laugh
Now, we’re warm and arm in arm we doze and we dream
And we sing and we laugh
Just a lullaby, close your eyes
Just a lullaby and a dream of love
Hear the lullaby
And say goodnight!
There’s a dream of love that we’re thinking of and softly we sigh
When we’re warmed by desire, nothing else on our minds
We hear so quiet
Just a lullaby, close your eyes
Just a lullaby and a dream of love
Hear the lullaby
MY WAY BACK HOME
(©2010, Dudley-Brian Smith, BMI)
In my mind, I am going home,
Where the best of what I am is known.
In my heart I have ceased to roam,
And willingly I will go home
My loved ones are calling me home,
And we'll meet on that sunny shore
Where the river runs deep and cold
And troubles afflict me no more.
CHORUS: I was bound to roam, It was in my soul;
Now, I've had my fill and I'm heading home.
I will roam no more. My journey's o'er,
I am on my way back home.
My tomorrows begin at that new shore
Filled with blessings for evermore.
With the loved ones who wait for me to come.
To join them – I will be home.
I was bound to roam, It was in my soul;
Now, I've had my fill and I'm heading home.
I will roam no more. My journey's o'er.
I am on my way back home.
(Repeat Chorus)
JUST BECAUSE OF YOU
(©2010, Robert & Dudley-Brian Smith, BMI)
When our worlds collide
Time with you can make it all worthwhile.
This love brings such change;
My hearts is a-flame
Just because of you.
Sometimes my life
Needs more faith to stand the test of time.
O, time will stand still,
Then my heart will be filled
Just because of you.
O, I will make the change,
I’m ready now to be there for you.
O, I will rearrange
To give my life and always be with you.
I will see you smile.
You’ll know my every reason why.
My love is for you.
I vow to stand true
Just because of you.
AT THE FAIR
(©2010, John Licari, Northport Grace Music, BMI)
Come with me, come with me to the county fair.
The weather’s cool, the sound of music flies through the air.
We’ll take a ride up to the stars tonight
And maybe take a chance or two at the fair.
Listen closely – can you hear the calliope?
Dancing clowns and merry-go-rounds, come dance with me.
We’ll pitch the toss; get loaded on candy floss.
It’s so easy to get lost inside the fair.
You lost your glove. People they push and shove.
It’s not hard to fall in love with you at the fair.
Here, we’ll visit the gypsy, look in her crystal ball.
Spin the wheel of fate and have our fortunes called.
We rode the mare. You won me that big stuffed bear.
But you never let me win your heart at the fair.
We rode the mare. You won me that big stuffed bear.
But you never let me win your heart at the fair.

SONG OF THE FISHERMAN
(©1989, Dudley-Brian Smith, BMI)
In the light of late afternoon, in the cradle of the moon
There lies the song of the Fisherman
In the lilt of gentle breezes, in the way true friendship pleases
I hear the song of the Fisherman
Oo, in the song of His hand may he hold you
Until face to face we stand
In the gentle hold of the Fisherman
As we've said our sweet goodbyes, we pray that on you lies
The very soul of the Fisherman.
When we sing this fond farewell clear as the ring of the bell
Lingers the song of the Fisherman.
THE LAST RAYS OF DAY
(©2010, Dudley-Brian Smith, BMI)
Golden, golden – softly flowing
The last rays of day
Quietly going - gently glowing
The last rays of day.
Keep me warm in your heart
Let me rest and restart
With hope, renew me with hope.
Lightly linger – kindly show me
The last rays of day.
Faithful tell me – care bestowing
The last rays of day.
Save this thought in your soul
And one another console
With hope in the last rays of day.
